Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival Returns with Monumental Projection-Mapped Art, Music, and Outdoor Dining
The Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy (JBRPC), in partnership with the National Park Service, invites New Yorkers to experience historic Floyd Bennett Field in a completely new light at the Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival on Saturday, October 3, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m.
The free, family-friendly evening will transform the monumental façade of historic Hangars 3 & 4 with newly commissioned digital artworks, alongside a communal outdoor dinner, live music and activities for all ages.
What:The Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival is a free celebration of art, history, community and one of New York City’s most remarkable public spaces.
This year’s festival puts a playful spin on “dinner and a show.” As the sun sets, neighbors and visitors will gather for The Longest Table, a collective outdoor dinner that turns a shared meal into an opportunity for art, conversation and connection. Music and family-friendly lawn activities will accompany the gathering.
After dark, historic Hangars 3 & 4 will become a monumental canvas as newly commissioned digital artworks are projection-mapped across the building’s brick-and-glass façade, surrounding audiences in color, motion and sound.
The site-specific works will explore themes of water, nature and innovation, drawing inspiration from Floyd Bennett Field’s history and its unique relationship to Jamaica Bay and New York City’s waterfront.

Why: Floyd Bennett Field is a place where New York City’s history, natural environment and spirit of experimentation converge. New York City’s first municipal airport and later one of the nation’s busiest naval air stations, the park has been shaped by generations of people and communities—from the Indigenous Lenape people and residents of Barren Island to aviation pioneers including Amelia Earhart and Howard Hughes.
Today, Floyd Bennett Field is part of Gateway National Recreation Area and offers an extraordinary setting for imagining the future of public space in New York City. The Public Arts Festival uses art, light and storytelling to reinterpret that history while inviting thousands of New Yorkers to experience the park as a destination for culture, recreation and community.
The inaugural Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival in 2024 drew more than 1,700 in-person attendees and 23,000 digital participants, establishing Floyd Bennett Field as an exciting new arts destination within Gateway National Recreation Area.
