Join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy for a shoreline cleanup on the shoreline of Floyd Bennett Field!
This large-scale shoreline cleanup will focus on the North 40 waterfront area at Floyd Bennett Field. Volunteers will remove large debris, trash, and floating materials that threaten shoreline health, wildlife habitat, and public access.
Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and bring their own water and sunscreen. The event is rain or shine.
Volunteers are encouraged to carpool or utilize ridesharing apps as travel to the site by public transportation is difficult.
Volunteers will meet at the North 40 Kayak Launch, located near the RC Plane Club. Please see the Map below.
See the map below for driving instructions. Enter Floyd Bennett Field along the Flatbush Avenue entrance (Aviation Rd). Turn left (the first major left turn) onto Runway 33. Drive along Runway 33 and turn right at Old 6-24 Runway. Follow this toward Camp Gateway Brooklyn Tamarak and Goldenrod and also Hangar B; then turn left (before the parking lot). Drive straight then take a slight left and look for the kayak launch and blue JBRPC table.
