Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival is the largest projection mapping event for digital art in New York City.

On Saturday, October 3rd, more than 15 newly-commissioned artworks are debuting – projected onto the 8,500 square foot façades of historic Hangars 3 & 4.

Presenting artists include the renowned Derrick Adams, Randy Polumbo and Wills Glasspiegel.

The video mapping is so detailed that it blurs the line between real life and the imagined.

This year’s event is a playful take on “dinner and a show.” Before sunset, attendees are invited to bring their own picnic dinner and set up on the Hangar Lawn, or reserve a seat at a table.

Floyd Bennett Field, New York City’s first municipal airport, was the site of record breaking flights by aviation pioneers like Amelia Earhar and Howard Hughes. It has since transformed into a national park.

Hangars 3 and 4 are not just canvases for the artists of the Festival. Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy is restoring the 50,000 square feet within the Hangars as space for cultural events, food, beverage, regular communal areas, and a center for innovation in nature-based solutions and restoration.
